He was the third son of Bernado di Niccoló Machiavelli and Stefano Nelli. Niccoló Machiavelli was a military theory, historian, philosopher, politician, and a writer. He was also a diplomat, poet, playwright, musician and the Civil Servant of the Florentine Council. Machiavelli was a ruthless man. His name is still used to describe the corrupt government and politicians. Machiavelli symbolized a corrupt government. Machiavellianism is when someone uses cunning tactics in politics.

He was known for being ruthless to the peasants of the kingdom. Although he is not king he advises the king to not be weak. He believes that weakness allows the civilians to take advantage of the king. He was slightly correct. It was the senators and advisers of the king that tried to take the throne for him. Machiavelli quickly discovered this and had them executed on the spot. From this action he was elected as the second Chancery of the Republic of Florence, a high honor.

Machiavelli was well educated because he went to school. His family wasn't very wealthy so his father had to teach him mostly. He studied grammar, rhetoric, and he learned Latin. It is odd that he didn't learn Greek because Florence at the time was one of the centers of Greek scholarships in Europe. His father taught him about manhood and how to lead. Machiavelli's goal was to become one the best politicians Florence has ever had. Politics were important to him at a young age because he wanted to be more successful in life than his father. His father was a very unsuccessful lawyer. At the time wars were raging and politicians and advisers were needed because the king needed help.

In 1494, he entered the Florentine government as a clerk and an ambassador. Four years later he became second chancellor of the Florentine government. Machiavelli was already an excellent politician and he went to the French court in 1500. Going to the French court earned him publicity because not many people from Florence can go to France. Although he was well known he was known for being ruthless, harsh, and cruel to the citizens of Florence. He used violence to achieve goals.

Machiavelli was also a military theorist and adviser. He helped commander military commander into using his tactics of dividing the enemy so they can be surrounded. Another tactic is to lure the enemy towards Florence and destroy them from there. Machiavelli didn't trust mercenaries because they do anything for whoever pays them so they can be paid to be traitors to Florence. Machiavelli believed in torturing his enemies so they can tell him the whereabouts of his comrades. These methods proved to be ineffective because the enemy just tell him what he wants to hear.

Years later in 1507, he married Marietta Corsini with whom he had five children. The Florentine Republic was overthrown by the Medici Family and the Spanish in 1512. Machiavelli remained a politician until he was accused of plotting against Giovanni de Medici. He was tortured in prison. It was only a year later that he was released from prison. In 1513, he retired and he moved to the property his father owned on the outskirts of Florence. Machiavelli died in 1527. Five years later his book The Prince was published. It was about military tactics, politics and government ruthlessness.
