Leonardo Da Vinci was born on April 15, 1452 and died May 2, 1519. Da Vinci's birth name was Leanardo di Sir Piero. Many people would call Leanardo Da Vinci a Renaissance Man. He was way ahead of his time. He thought of stuff that wasn't invented for 100s of years. For instance, Da Vinci loved designing and making machines. His notebook included mostly ideas for human flight. Leonardo thought of many different kinds of flying machines like a type of airplane where there's big, flapping wings which were attached to ropes that the pilot could control. He also thought of a helicopter, parachute, and a glider.

He also thought of many ideas related to the art of war. These included the giant crossbow, the armored car, the finned shell mortar, and the multi barreled machine guns. Other inventions were more useful in everyday life, like the calculator, the hydraulic press, and the bobbin.

One reason that Leonardo Da Vinci was so good at inventing things was because he had infinite curiousity. He kept track of all his

questions in a notebook which he carried everywhere with him. Since he had so many great ideas, he wrote in his notebook almost every day. When he died he had about 13,000 pages of notes.
